TO ALL SKEGGS MOBILCARD CUSTOMERS

A word from David Skeggs, Chairman of the Skeggs Foundation.

Firstly, I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your valued support of the Foundation. Over the last year your support by using your Skeggs Mobilcards has provided $350,000 towards helping aspiring Otago athletes achieve their dreams.

2015 has seen a wonderful selection of athletes benefit from the grants scheme, administered by Sport Otago. The athletes include the amazing Suzie Bates, captain of the Otago Sparks women's cricket team. Other successful applicants include several members of both ice hockey teams, the Southern Stampede and Dunedin Thunder. This is a very exciting sport to watch!!

We are also very proud of our Paralympians. The team sent to the IPC World Athletics Championships in October went away as the biggest and best prepared team ever, and came back the most successful ever, largely thanks to the efforts of the six Otago athletes in the eight member squad. The young group included Skeggs Foundation supported athletes including Holly Robinson (javelin), Jessica Hamill (shotput), Anna Grimaldi (long jump and 200m), Caitlin Dore (javelin) and Rory McSweeney (javelin). All of them had personal best results, and broke the New Zealand record for their events on the way to the finals. Jessica Hamill and Rory McSweeney took the silver medal in their events and Holly Robinson and Anna Grimaldi claimed bronze. Photos of Holly and Rory are attached below.

With funding for para sport hard to get, they all value the support of the Skeggs Foundation in getting these opportunities to compete on the highest stages, returning that support with fantastic results!!

In closing, I most sincerely thank you all again for your support. I wish you and your families happy holidays, safe travels and best wishes for 2016.
